ZooChip
and Alpacas
More and more we are being asked about
microchipping alpacas and our range of microchipping products are
all
entirely relevant to the needs of the alpaca owner no matter what size of herd
you have or are looking to build.
The ZooChip, FDX-B microchip is used
throughout the world in zoos, farming situations, rescues and by a
growing number of alpaca farmers and smaller breeders.
The chip is one of the smallest on the market
which
gives the dual benefit of less discomfort for the animal at time of implantation and tests have shown,
smaller chips are
less likely to 'migrate' (move from the implant site).
We have several scanners that can reads
the chips but two stand out for different reasons. PetScan and detect-a-chip.
Both
scanners will read most of the chips you are ever likely to come across but
detect-a-chip will also read the
Avid Encrypted chip that is sometimes found
in alpacas imported from the Americas.
Some months ago
we, jointly with Philip O' Conor of Atlantic Alpacas, published an article on
microchipping alpacas in
Alpaca magazine.
I am very pleased to re-produce the article on a
linked page. The piece will hopefully give you some interesting
information about
how, why and where to chip your animals but IT DOES NOT
give you license to implant microchips into your animals.
Full details about
implant training is available on request. Click [here]
