ZooChip
Scanners

Zoos and other such organisations have had a particular problem thrust upon them with the introduction of the ISO 11784/5 compliance requirement. Most ISO scanners will not recognise the Trovan ID-100 'Unique' transponder or the American, Avid Encrypted chip. The ID-100 has, for years, been the 'standard' microchip for C.I.T.E.S. and captive breeding programmes etc. This fact undeniably means that there are thousands of animals, throughout the world, carrying the  ID-100 transponder. Therefore, in a zoo environment, you need a reader that will recognise both the ID-100 transponder   and the ISO 'chips' that are now being implanted.

ZooChip supply a concise range of microchip scanners designed to meet a variety of demanding criteria will recognise both transponder protocols!

The newest addition to our range is detect-a-chip, a powerful, inexpensive, pocket scanner that will read ANY animal implantable microchip as at date of introduction (November 2005). We have listened to our customers and detect-a-chip is the scanner that has been asked for, a universal scanner at a reasonable price.

For those that need the extra facility of pc/laptop compatibility we offer the Trovan LID-571/572 range of pocket scanners
under our own
ZooChip 'MAX' and 'MAX USB' label.  Also, the ARE H5 scanner for that extra read distance.
All with free software downloadable from the internet.

detect-a-chip Multi -  Now a firm favorite in the ZooChip range of scanners, detect-a-chip is a handy pocket scanner with a big read capability at a very economical cost.

detect-a-chip is the only scanner currently on the market that

The ZooChip 'MAX' Scanner Range.

ISO-MAX & MULTI-MAX  (Trovan LID-571)
ISO-MAX USB & MULTI-MAX USB  (Trovan LID-572)

The ISO MAX series are handy, pocket sized readers that will read all ISO 11784/11785 transponders and most importantly, in zoological situations, they also recognises the Trovan ID-100 'Unique', microchips which have always been widely used in captive breeding programmes.  The MULTI-MAX also reads Avid's Encrypted microchip!

The ISO-MAX and MULTI-MAX are very flexible and can be used either as stand alone readers, handy for simply scanning an animal for identification purposes, or they can read, date and time record and store, up to 1600 individual transponder ID strings for recovery to a PC later.

The readers can also be connected directly to a PC or Laptop via a RS232 cable and records written up or viewed at the time of scanning individual animals.

The MAX USB readers will perform all the same tasks but connect to the PC or laptop via a USB connection.

Also available for the MAX Range of scanners is our protect-a-case; a strong, rubberised, protective, slip-on cover in case of those unfortunate 'drop' accidents.

ARE H5  -  The ARE H5 is a larger, more robust reader, ideal for heavy usage situations or where it might have to endure 'rougher' treatment. It reads the full range of  transponders; ISO 11784/11785, Trovan ID-100 'Unique' as well as the older FDX-A transponders.

The ARE H5 has a read distance of 10 - 20 cms and comes with free software, battery, battery charger etc as standard.

Special Projects:

Adapting the MAX Range by adding either a 'probe' extension, (illustrated) or a longer, flexible extension, opens up the opportunity to read transponders at a safer distance or without necessarily putting an animal in a tight 'crush'.

We can also supply readers with waterproof antennae able to read transponders underwater.  Contact us for further details.
